Reading Centres

Individual, "one on one", sessions, based on a full evaluation to determine the child`s reading level as well as identifies problem areas.

Study Method Training

Individual, "one on one", sessions, tailored subject training, whereby we assist children to summerise, study and remember their subjects work prior to exams.
...the activity can also be done with the brainwave stimulation machine to assist in memorizing the subject. Specific to certain branches.

Math & Science Tutoring

Individual assistance with problematic elements, to ensure your child reaches his/her full potential in the respected subject.
This service is limited to certain branches and grades, please feel free to enquire.

Online OT Tips

With over 10 years of experience, Engela and her team give online tips to parents using general household items and toys to assist in child development.

Engela van der Heever – Greyling an Occupational Therapist, also known as #diekindertannie graduated with a B.Occ.Therapy from the University of Pretoria in 2009. After working in her practice for a few years she realized that there is a real need for one-on-one intervention to assist children with concentration and reading skills and as she also specializes in Sensory Integration, she decided to develop a program with movement and brainwave stimulation to assist children in getting their reading wings. During the process Engela worked with a number of highly experienced therapists, especially with regards to Speech, Hearing, Physio, Educational & Play therapists and that is where Giving Children Wings was born.

As a woman-led business, each instructor is equipped with the patience and kindness required to teach your child. These instructors or franchise owners are not allowed to commence work without going to through the proper training. 

As a Business, this program has allowed many women to open their own branches in their respective communities while build the business of their dream and helping children get their reading wings.

Program Detail

A full evaluation is done to determine the child`s reading level as well as to identify problem areas.

We follow an integrated approach to support children with reading and concentration difficulties holistically, which includes exercises that improve concentration. Eye movement exercises as poor eye movements negatively influence reading speed and sight words are practiced weekly to improve reading speed.

The program includes reading & comprehensive reading improving activities. If a child is unable to read with comprehension they struggle to learn effectively as well as answer questions correctly during exams.

Basically the program, follow an integrated approach to support children with reading and concentration difficulties holistically. We have combined Occupational Therapy techniques with regards to perceptual development and movement, Remedial Therapy reading techniques and basic language skills. The program is bottom-up scaffolding intervention approach by assisting children with pre-reading skills moving on to comprehensive reading.
